Taking a Step in Prestonpans

On Saturday, the Steering Group held an information day in the Library.

We couldn't work out how to use the library's projector but fortunately, Prestonpans Primary teacher, Mr Whitfield (seen here with the banana!) sorted it out and we were able to show three short films about Fairtrade.

We were really taken aback how few people knew that Prestonpans is a Fairtrade Town.  This really reinforces the need for signage at each of the four gateway signs.

When we explained about the benefits such signage would bring to the town, people were keen to show their support.  Look out for our campaign literature and please add your support!

We were keen to show how everyone benefits from Fairtrade - the producer, the consumer and the environment - so we had a Fairtrade Tombola where every ticket was a winner!

It was a great way to show the range of Fairtrade products available.

These happy winners were pleased to win a disposable barbecue, a box of tissues and sugar sticks!

And of course, we collected people's 'steps' for Fairtrade.  If you want to take a step for Fairtrade, you can do so online here.

Remember, we have promotional material (and an inflatable banana!) that you can borrow.  If you are running a Fairtrade event or competition in Prestonpans, we might even be able to help you out with prizes.
